Responsibilities:

• Inform, advise and challenge the leadership team in order to take safety performance and behaviour in the field of safety to a higher level.
• Identifying trends by using data analysis of available data sources (incidents by using gensuite and externally reported incidents).
• Initiating, developing, implementing and leading EHS Projects to improve EHS performance and / or implement new legislation (site wide) (green belt), including monitoring the progress and project budgets.
• Spotting new trends such as changes in laws and regulations and being familiar with best practices of other companies and SABIC subsidiaries and worldwide development in specific areas of EHS.
• Support, counsel and coach plants and units in EHS to meet the EHS goals.
• Lead the safety team and coordinate activities.
• Monitor and timely assess new and updates of national and international standards and legislation in the field of occupational safety, health and industrial hygiene.
• Lead, improve and maintain the safety part of our EHS management system.

• Higher Vocational Education level (HBO);
• Diploma in Higher Safety Studies; 
• Good experience (>5 years) within chemical industry in the field of operations/manufacturing;
• Applicable competencies for analyzing complex safety issues and the ability to manage and convince multi disciplinary teams on EHSS issues;
• Excellent knowledge of policy, government legislation and regulations in relation to safety;
• Knowledge of project-based working;
• In depth knowledge of EHS management systems;
• Good communication skills and being able to build effective and sustainable relationships within the organization as well as with stakeholders outside the organization.
