The Challenge
Purpose of the job:
Lead the improvement of safety performance on site by analyzing the current situation, initiating implementation of improvement projects, providing advice and support to operating departments and driving innovation and overall EHS awareness on site. Securing the compliance of the site in terms of legislation and company guidelines and maintaining contacts with governments.

Responsibilities:
- Inform, advise and challenge the leadership team in order to take safety performance and behaviour in the field of safety to a higher level.
- Identifying trends by using data analysis of available data sources (incidents by using gensuite and externally reported incidents).
- Initiating, developing, implementing and leading EHS Projects to improve EHS performance and / or implement new legislation (site wide) (green belt), including monitoring the progress and project budgets.
- Spotting new trends such as changes in laws and regulations and being familiar with best practices of other companies and SABIC subsidiaries and worldwide development in specific areas of EHS.
- Support, counsel and coach plants and units in EHS to meet the EHS goals.
- Lead the safety team and coordinate activities.
- Monitor and timely assess new and updates of national and international standards and legislation in the field of occupational safety, health and industrial hygiene.
- Lead, improve and maintain the safety part of our EHS management system.
Your Profile
- Higher Vocational Education level (HBO);
- Diploma in Higher Safety Studies;
- Good experience (>5 years) within chemical industry in the field of operations/manufacturing;
- Applicable competencies for analyzing complex safety issues and the ability to manage and convince multi disciplinary teams on EHSS issues;
- Excellent knowledge of policy, government legislation and regulations in relation to safety;
- Knowledge of project-based working;
- In depth knowledge of EHS management systems;
- Good communication skills and being able to build effective and sustainable relationships within the organization as well as with stakeholders outside the organization.
