AfdelingPACCAR Engine Company's $400 million engine manufacturing and technology facility in Columbus, Mississippi, has begun production in September 2010. The 12.9L engines produced at the Mississippi plant are the next generation MX-engines, based on the European MX-engine that has been successfully installed in the DAF XF and - CF trucks since 2006. It is the first time that PACCAR offers their two important brands, Kenworth and Peterbilt, the opportunity to install in-house developed engines in their trucks. Part of the supply base for this MX engine is based in Europe. That is why it is important for PACCAR to have a Material Planner installed at DAF Eindhoven, in order to be optimally equipped to operate the supply chain from the EU-side.FunctieomschrijvingDaily review of all part numbers that fall under the assigned supplier package. This means releasing orders or rescheduling orders as required. Review of approved future engineering changes (new part number releases): verify whether part numbers are planned correctly to the scheduled change.
Timely response to possible line shortages or Material Handling issues that may occur. When caused by a supplier, corrective actions are to be taken by the supplier. The planner has a central coordinating role in driving these actions.
Follow up with suppliers, DAF transport planning, consolidation centre (cross-dock), express shipments, etc, to ensure plans on resolving shortages are carried out correctly. Review SAP error logs and correct material master data in SAP if necessary. Offer support in implementing Paccar Production System (PPS), driving suppliers to continuous improvement, proposals for new Six Sigma projects, training, etc.
Logistic problem shooter and co-ordinator in resolving supplier issues related to schedule questions, packaging shortages, etc.
Transparent communication to suppliers regarding the logistical requirements for the PEC-supplies.
Taking preventive measures on possible obsolete stocks, or search for alternative use.
Analyzing receipt discrepancies and carrying out corrective actions. Tracking of supplier delivery reliability and escalate in the correct manner if necessary.
Organize information sessions with DAF-planners in case of comparable supply issues with the same suppliers.FunctieprofielBachelor degree with a independent, pro-active and positive attitude.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as good working knowledge of (advanced) systems and basic database relationships. Computer literacy is a must especially with MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Experience/knowledge of SAP and/or other MRP/ERP systems is a plus.
Must be self-motivated, well organized, flexible (also in relation to working schedule due to time zone difference between Eindhoven and Columbus), and able to handle the pressure of a high-volume production environment. Experience in working with high performance work teams and strong demonstrated knowledge of Six-Sigma, Kaizen, and/or Continuous Improvement concepts is requested.
